The European Regulators' Group for Electricity and Gas (ERGEG) has unveiled seven electricity Regional Energy Market projects.
Each will bring together regulators, companies, Member States, the European Commission and other interested parties. The seven regions will have similar aims but reflect the very different concerns and level of progress so far achieved in each region. An overall monitoring process will ensure that progress towards a single energy market is not hampered by the regional initiatives.
An integral part of the Electricity Regional Initiative is the proper involvement of all relevant stakeholders. The institutional set-up consists of the Regional Co-ordination Committee, together with the Implementation and Stakeholder Groups. A Lead Regulator has been appointed for each REM to chair and co-ordinate work within the region. View the organisational structure and glossary of terms.
A ERGEG monitors and presents Progress Reports to the Florence Forum on the ERI. Detailed information on each REM is posted in the individual folders for the region on the left, along with the Press Releases. Ongoing public consultations in the regionos are detailed below.
This initiative is the result of an extensive public consultation.
